When I was growing up we didn’t have home computers let alone PlayStation to entertain ourselves. Handheld camcorders were barely coming to the retail market by the time I was in 8th grade, but still a long ways away from the YouTube and Facebook arena we now see today. Times were extremely different back then and so was school. From a teacher’s perspective our competition is tough. Passing out a handout of 30 problems that are all in a format of 534×25= is not as stimulating in the students’ eyes as playing games such as Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil. Granted, that will always be a tough uphill battle for math to win out over most video games, but the point is, students today are much more immersed in technology than ever before. So even if you need to pass out a math worksheet to review concepts and formulas, it will greatly benefit your cause if you design the worksheet to be as stimulating as possible.

When kids hear the word worksheet, they usually cringe. This is because they think of the hard work they receive at school. Even if your child is among the crowd who would rather play video games or even clean his room rather than do worksheets at home, there are a variety of ways you can encourage learning at home. There are many fun worksheets for kids available online that are an extension of the video games that are available, furthering the skills kids learn in school and online. Rewards ==> One of the most effective ways to encourage the use of fun worksheets for kids at home is to use video game time as a reward for the completion of printed work. The printed out sheets are meant to review the information that was learned in school. Too often kids seem to fully understand a subject while in the classroom but seem to forget the entire concept on the bus ride home. When you provide extensions of their learning at home, they will gain a better grasp of the subject. When you give children time to play online educational games that are enjoyable as a reward for completing printed work, they are more likely to oblige.
It is amazing the difference in effort you will get from worksheet to worksheet. Granted the amount of effort may vary immensely from year to year depending on the group of students you have. However for the most part, when a worksheet is needed to help drill down a procedure, standard, or lesson, its effectiveness can and will vary. Therefore it is our job as the teacher to make sure that when we need to utilize a worksheet, we provide the students with one that is as inspiring as can be. Times are different these days. Kids are growing up in a world of microwaves, fast food chains, Nintendo, Wifi, iPads, along with a ton of other technical marvels.

There are of course many other educational variations of bingo, and innovative educators are sure to come up with yet more ideas on this theme. The key requirement of course to using any of these versions of bingo in the classroom is having a set of bingo worksheets with the appropriate items for the particular lesson. In some cases it may be possible to buy such worksheets preprinted, but they can be expensive, and of course preprinted items do not allow the teacher to choose exactly the items they should contain. A cheaper and more flexible approach may therefore be to use a computer and some bingo worksheet maker software – that way the teacher can easily print custom bingo worksheets whenever they are needed.
Kindergarten should be fun. And teaching kindergarten can be fun too. But as any good kindergarten teacher would well understand, it can be an extremely active experience. A kindergarten teacher has to get fully involved and involve children with lots of interesting kindergarten activities, worksheets and exercises, that would hold their attention and make it an enjoyable experience for them. There are two important points that may be kept in mind here: ==> The learning should be fun. It should not feel like work, but play. For otherwise, children will quickly get bored. Hence it would be a good idea to use a lot of interesting activities, games, coloring sheets, illustrated kindergarten worksheets etc. You should be well prepared with these teaching aids, which can be made very easily. The learning should be real-worldly. It is easiest to learn and remember when whatever is learned is immediately applied to a practical, real-life situation. You should use every opportunity to teach and regularly reinforce basic concepts taught, in real-life and in real-time. For instance, during snack-time, if a child is eating a biscuit, you can say – ’B’ for ’biscuit’. While waiting for a school van, you can say – ’V’ for ’Van’ and so on. Whether you are home schooling a child or teaching in a classroom do make the learning a very interactive exercise with lots of educational activities and games.
